It definitely feels like a soothing way to calm your facial muscles and reduce puffiness. However, cold therapy does not have very long-lasting effects. In fact, along with the benefits of ice for the face, when done too often, it may have its own set of cons that can damage the skin. With summer almost here, many of us will turn to ice for stressed skin but before you do, here are some things that you surely would want to know. 1. Rubbing Too Much Ice Can Damage Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is already quite reactive to many stimuli and this might add to it. Icing your skin can cause dryness and redness. First things first, absolutely avoid dunking your face in a bowl of ice. If you really need to apply ice over your face, then wrap a thin towel around the ice before applying it.

2. Do Not Apply Ice Directly After Being In The Sun

We love the nice cooling sensation of ice after being in the sun but this one is a big no-no. Clearly, there is a temperature switch as you come inside from the heat and then applying ice will lead to headaches due to capillary damage and can even cause irritation on the skin.
