Amrita Arora recently stepped into her new role as an entrepreneur. With her husband, Shakeel Ladak, they recently launched a new restaurant perched above Anjuna Beach in Goa - Jolene.

In an exclusive conversation with Vogue India, Amrita revealed how, as a kid, she was scared of water. “When I was young and vacationed in Goa, I would go to the beach but never in the water. Then I had my babies. They would say, ‘Mama, come into the water; let's parasail. Come, let's go jet skiing. started getting into the ocean and faced my fear head-on just because I wanted to spend more time with them.” Life comes full circle. After overcoming her fear of water, years later, she has launched her own restaurant with a beautiful view of the glittering sea.

The restaurant has a warm, friendly ambience despite its glamour with its high ceilings, indoor palm trees, and rustic, sand-coloured curtains and sofas. The restaurant has a glass wall revealing the majestic Arabian Sea, which sparkles under the afternoon sun and turns more soothing as evening approaches.

Jolene's food, cocktail, and dessert menus are specially curated to pay small homage to strong women. Amrita and her husband Shakeel at last revealed where the name Jolene comes from and whether it's a song by Dolly Parton. Amrita said, “It is the song. It's one of my favourite songs, and it's an ode to strong women who are also vulnerable.”

What adds more to the atmosphere and the aesthetics is the curated menu itself. Curated by Chef Suvir Saran, the menu is an ideal blend of simple comfort dishes. The chef added a global twist to regular restaurant favourites. Some of the must-haves are the TB&C, which is a blend of tomatoes, burrata, and cornflakes; another one is Forbidden Yet Yours, a healthier take on fried rice that uses black rice. Speaking to Vogue, Amrita revealed her personal favourite has to be the Spicy Misal Ramen.
