Atticus in New Delhi's tony neighbourhood is an exciting addition to the city's dining scene. The restaurant's contemporary Latin American dining offering is a refreshing take on the cuisine itself. But it also attempts to break away from the city's usual culinary suspects. Add to that the restaurant's noir-inspired ambience with their innovative and chic dishes and you've landed on the recipe to the good times.
For any Latin American restaurant, cocktails are a key player in the popularity of it. Atticus excels in its cocktail offerings. Being one of the restaurants in Delhi that serves Kendall Jenner's tequila brand, 818, there's a certain pressure to be excellent in the cocktail department. Their classic Margaritas, Picantes and Palomas can be enjoyed in their original forms or can be switched up with their local interpretations if you prefer bolder flavours. Enjoy them as it is or with a side of their nachos and guacamole and you can thank us later.
The Chevre Revisited with green apple and goat cheese is a contemporary take on this fresh vegetarian ceviche - a bright and invigorating start to the meal. The tart green apples paired with creamy go cheese create a delightful contrast.
Tacos are always on the menu when enjoying Latin flavours with no exceptions at Atticus. The Mutton Biria Tacos were calling us so we answered the call to this juicy plate of a trio of tacos. The slow-cooked mutton is tender and richly spiced and the tacos come with a flavourful dipping broth to enhance it further.
The seafood lovers will appreciate the prawns with pineapple, chimichurri and bell peppers - a classic in every sense. These prawns are perfectly cooked with a luscious buttery garlic sauce that is both aromatic and indulgent. And don't be intimidated by the hard shell it is served in as the buttery white meat falls right off.
A woody and spiced with earthen flavours, the pork ribs are served on top of a thick and luscious sauce made using nuts and spices and also comes with tortillas to roll it up and eat with ease.
Another Latin table classic, the empanadas served with a generous chicken filling landed right on our table. With a crisp, golden exterior and a well-seasoned chicken stuffed in it, the empanada has all the feelings, sorry, fillings.
The desserts have a fusion element too that helps to reimagine the way you look at classics. While you can't go wrong with a cheesecake (and we didn't either with their offering), their version of the Tres Leches is fresher than the ones we have usually eaten as it is served with their in-house seasonal sorbet and a berry compote.
Atticus is a unique gem for those seeking a blend of innovative cuisine that is best enjoyed with delicious cocktails in a contemporary setting. So whether you're a fan of Latin flavours or just looking to switch up your palate for something different this weekend, you know where you need to be.
