Ivanka Trump's Green Dress At Hyderabad Summit Didn't Impress Twitter

Ivanka Trump, President Donald Trump's daughter and informal White House advisor, arrived in India this morning on an official visit - and she can expect to be subjected to the sort of scrutiny, clothes-wise, that Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton received. So far, we're not impressed. Ivanka landed in Hyderabad, which is where the eighth edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit co-hosted by India and the US is being held from November 28 to 30. In attendance along with her, of course, is our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who also hosted a dinner for Ivanka at Hyderabad's Falaknuma Palace. Ivanka Trump delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session of the Summit, the theme of which is 'Women First, Prosperity For All.'

There has been some controversy over the choice of Ivanka Trump to lead an official delegation and represent the US internationally - while there could be an argument made given the focus of the Summit, what we don't understand is Ivanka's outfit choice for the occasion.

Twitter seems similarly unimpressed:

We've seen Ivanka Trump do way better so she has a rep to protect. Having said that, we have to add that Ivanka did turn up in Hyderabad looking quite like her stylish self. She was wearing a classic black and white jacket with sleek black trousers. Now, this seems more like it.

Ivanka will also wear a creation designed by Neeta Lulla while she's in India. The outfit, commissioned specially, is an ivory and gold sari-gown with a sitar motif. Neeta Lulla said in a statement, carried by news agency IANS: "As stylish and elegant as Ms. Trump is, her ensemble too will be intricate and exquisite. We are honoured to present an exclusive bespoke collectable inspired from the Vrindavan Symphony which is our tribute to the celebrated Radha-Krishna fable.

"It has a motif of the traditional musical instrument sitar, which has its roots... in classical music... and is inspired by the Vrindavan Gardens where the impeccable portrayal of the divine romance was performed as 'Raas Leela'. We have created a signature ensemble using the traditional sari restyled into an elegant gown."

The inaugural session of the Summit, which is being attended by 1,200 mostly women entrepreneurs, began with a cultural performance. Ivanka Trump's speech highlighted PM Modi's rise from selling tea as a young man and Indo-US ties.
