Follow Malaika Arora's Intense Weighted Workouts To Tone Your Waist

Malaika Arora's commitment to fitness is no exception. From yoga to weight training, she believes in a combination of workouts to stay fit and fab. In her “mid-week motivation” video, Malaika showcased three deep-core exercises to tone down the waist. She began the drill by executing dumbbell rotations. Her legs and shoulders were wide apart as she passed around the dumbbell from one hand to the other in a uniform motion. Next up she did weighted high knees. Malaika held the dumbbell above her head, keeping her arms straight and brought up her knees closer to her chest one by one. Her final belly-reducing workout was weighted lateral squats where she applied stress on her legs while bringing the dumbbell up and down in motion. Focusing on toning the waist, these workouts can be added to any fitness routine.

As per Malaika, these core aerobics help in strengthening the deep core and pelvic floor muscles. “These exercises are somewhat harder than they look but they are so much more effective,” she wrote in the caption. The other benefits of core-strengthening workouts are better posture, stability and balance, coupled with lower back stabilisation, back pain reduction and lower risk of injuries.

Before that, Malaika guided us on how to alleviate shoulder and upper back pain. On Instagram, the fitness enthusiast was seen keeping her back straight and her chest out. She held the end of a stick in one hand and lowered it to her back. Next, she held the other end with her other hand, repeating the activity by interchanging the positions. Malaika ensured that her elbows were close to the body. Known as shoulder mobility exercise, this one aids in daily functioning and pain-free movement. It can improve flexibility and motion, lessen tension around the muscles and prevent injury.

Malaika is a through-and-through yoga girl too. She celebrated International Yoga Day this year by penning a “gratitude” note to the physical activity. Take a look:
