Kaia Gerber's Feathered Gown And Voluminous Hair At Paris Fashion Week Has Left Us Speechless

When it's fashion season, you can only expect looks that are bold, bizarre and downright striking. The recent Schiaparelli show made us a do double with whimsical headgear and Valentino only further continued the statement-making with beauty.

At Paris Fashion Week, Valentino's Fall Winter 2018 - 2019 showcase took place at Hotel Salomon de Rothschild with many Hollywood celebrities and supermodels in attendance including Tracee Ellis Ross, Nicky Hilton and Natalia Vodianova. The haute couture showcase saw a line-up of jewel toned ensembles in rusty orange, intense emerald and popping purple in a variety of draped looks, embroidered elements and sequined accents.

To complement the outfits further was an absolute statement-maker of a beauty look. One set of models sported a bold makeup look of exaggerated winged eyeliner in hues that matched their ensembles. With it were strobed faces and slicked back wet-looking hair. But that wasn't all.

The second set of models sported an even bolder look and Kaia Gerber who was part of the line-up, made a splash on social media with her runway look. Cindy Crawford's daughter, Kaia was seen in a lilac toned strapless feathered gown with her brunette hair combed back into a voluminous hairdo that was several centimeters higher than her head.

Josh Wood, the Global Color Creative Director at Redken was responsible for the mind-boggling hairstyle. On Instagram, Josh says it took over 50 wigs and 150 hours of preparation across 3700 miles. While the volume at the crown alone will leave you picking up your jaw from the ground, the hair team also showcased a new balayage technique at the Valentino show. Called 'ribbon-lights', it involves painting thick hair sections by hand for a look that mimics natural light.
