2017 was a defining year for many reasons, especially in the world of beauty and fashion. Several of these reasons had A-list involvement. From collaborations that made our hearts flutter to the rumoured triple Kardashian pregnancy, it's been eventful, to say the least. Of all those moments, here are nine of the biggest that grabbed our attention. So long 2017, it's been nice knowing you.
1. Anushka Sharma's Nush In Copyright Row
In October this year, Anushka Sharma joined the league of numerous Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor by launching her clothing line, Nush. Although the brand's videos shows her labouring over clothing sketches and font sizes behind the scenes, several similarities were found between Nush's clothes and those from Chinese wholesale websites - case in point being a fur-trimmed parka and pink satin bomber jacket - leading to a possible copyright row. Naturally, fans were very disappointed, even as the brand promised to get to the bottom of the issue. In an additional shocker, turns out that Anushka may not have been part of the design process of her own line.
2. Pregnant Serena Williams Is All Kinds Of Goals
Shortly after announcing her pregnancy, Serena Williams made her first red carpet appearance at the Met Gala with her baby bump and partner, Alex Ohanian. Cutting a stunning figure in an embellished emerald Atelier Versace gown, this was shortly after the big reveal that she won her 23rd Grand Slam title while pregnant in January. During her pregnancy, Serena also went on to pose for the covers a several glossies, flaunting her bump in sparkling ball gowns and with truckloads of confidence.
3. Priyanka Chopra Made A Meme-Worthy Met Gala Appearance
Also present at the Met Gala was our very own Priyanka Chopra. But instead of the rave reviews she usually gets, this one went on to spawn a thousand memes. Personally, we loved the Ralph Lauren trench coat with an exaggerated train and chunky combat boots, but what we thought didn't stop the online world from likening Priyanka's ensemble to a broom. Ultimately, neither the hair nor the makeup could save Priyanka from become the victim of some pretty creative photoshopping.

4. Deepika Padukone Takes Over Cannes
In summer, Deepika Padukone made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the second time, but this was her first as a L'Oreal brand ambassador. From the time she landed in Nice wearing a boho-chic dress to her press appearances in printed midis to her red carpet appearances and everything in between, what Deepika wore made us sit up and take notice. The climax was Deepika's look in a rich green Brandon Maxwell gown, which she paired with coloured cat eyes and a twisted bun.
5. Gigi Hadid Takes Over The Makeup World
The vastly popular supermodel, Gigi Hadid, added yet another feather to her overcrowded cap in 2017 in the form of a collaboration with makeup brand Maybelline. Named 'Gigi X Maybelline', the line was a thoughtful mix of glam eye shadows, creamy lip colours and dewy highlighters, perfectly appropriating Gigi's effortless beachy vibe with elan. All this, in addition to her clothing label with Tommy Hilfiger and being a Victoria's Secret Angel. Wow.
6. Royal-To-Be Meghan Markle Became A Fashion Icon
After months of speculation about the romance between England's Prince Harry and Suits star Meghan Markle picking up steam, the couple finally announced their engagement in November, with a spring 2018 wedding in the offing. Already a huge star and a feminist icon in her own right, the engagement immediately turned Meghan into a soon-to-be royal fashionista like Kate Middleton. Meghan's breezy, yet crisp, style has become a major source of celebrity fashion inspiration and the craze for her can be gauged by the fact that rumoured sketches of her wedding dress are already making waves on the Internet.
7. Kareena Kapoor Walks The Ramp As A New Mom
Just like she balanced her pregnancy with her professional commitments exceptionally, even in the post-Taimur era, Kareena continued work as usual. A little more than a month post-delivery, Kareena stunned us all when she walked the ramp for designer Anita Dongre at Lakme Fashion Week. Wearing a flowing embellished cape with a white gown and bronzed skin, Bebo made a pretty powerful statement about motherhood, fashion and career, without saying a word.
8. Cara Delevingne Debuted A Shaved Silver Head
If Cara is going to make an appearance, you can rest assured that it's going to turn heads. At the Met Gala, she debuted a shaved and silver-painted head. Cara had chopped off her locks for a role and for the event, her metallic look paired with an encrusted Chanel suit made us do a double take. If anyone can pull off a shaved metallic head, it's got to be Cara.
9. Sonam And Rhea Kapoor Launch Their Clothing Line
In May, stylist Rhea Kapoor and her sister, Bollywood's favourite fashionista Sonam Kapoor, launched their clothing line, Rheson. A combination of their names, the collection aimed to channel both of their signature styles into a line that's affordable and cool. Replete with avocado emojis, #GirlWhoEat slogans and kite prints, Rheson pieces are often spotted on the two and have caught on quickly with fans of the Bollywood sisters.
