Celebrity and wellness mogul Kourtney Kardashian and her brand Lemme has launched a new product called GLP-1 Daily. Details about the supplement were shared on Lemme's official Instagram handle. "Introducing Lemme GLP-1 Daily. A breakthrough innovation in metabolic health, formulated to naturally boost your body's GLP-1 production, reduce appetite, and promote healthy weight loss," read the caption.

GLP-1 is a hormone produced in the gut after eating that is responsible for regulating glucose levels, managing appetite and supporting fast metabolism. When we eat, GLP-1 signals fullness, supports insulin production and slows digestion to maintain balanced glucose levels. However, as we age, our body's natural GLP-1 production declines, leading to slower metabolism, difficulty managing weight and increased cravings which can contribute to metabolic issues over time.

Since its announcement before it launches later this month, the product has grabbed headlines for the nature of its claims and the comparisons it has drawn as an "natural" alternative to Ozempic, which has been discussed in influential circles as an unofficial weight loss medication. According to Healthline, "Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs mimic the actions of the hormone GLP-1 by activating its receptor, which leads to weight loss and lower blood sugar". According to their data, Lemme's latest launch does not contain a synthetic GLP-1 hormone and is not a GLP-1 receptor agonist like Ozempic.

As per the caption, Lemme GLP-1 Daily is "an all-natural supplement with no known side effects, powered by 3 clinically tested ingredients: Eriomin, Lemon Fruit Extract, Supresa Saffron Extract, and Morosil and Red Orange Fruit Extract." According to Healthline, consuming saffron extract caused decreased hunger in a study of 60 women dealing with weight problems.

According to information provided by the brand, Lemme GLP-1 Daily is designed to "boost the body's GLP-1 levels, reduce hunger, promote insulin sensitivity and support healthy weight management". The product also calls itself a "game-changing scientific advancement".

Social media comments on Kourtney Kardashian's new product showed that controversy was bound to follow, even before it actually launched. On Instagram, comments go from "shameless money grab" to "how is anyone believing this?" to even one asking "are there any publicly available results for people who have tried this product prior to its release next week". No matter which Kardashian is in the spotlight, controversy is never far behind.
