Lakme Fashion Week 2018 Day 3: Kalki Koechlin As Showstopper For Amoh By Jade

Amoh by JADE, designed by Monica Shah and Karishma Swali, unveiled their collection called 'The Descendants of Niyam Raja' on Day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Designer and creative head Monica Shah attempted to bring a luxurious boho-spiritedness to this latest collection. This collection of Amoh by Jade was one that was made up mostly of white and beige garments accompanied by floral embroidery. Earthy tones with a backdrop of Indian heritage juxtaposed with a modern vibe is what the show was made up of. The collection has borrowed and tried to capture various elements of the Dongria tribe; a tribe that resides in The Niyamgiri hill range in Odisha state and is known to worship the mountain god Niyam Raja and the hills he presides over. Their choice of fabric, which is undyed, natural fiber, is one that also seems well suited to the Indian summer.

Stealing the show of this rather inspired range of clothes, was none other than actress Kalki Koechlin who walked the ramp as their showstopper.

Kalki looked resplendent in spite of wearing an entirely beige outfit. The fringe sported by Kalki is something we haven't seen on her at a formal event before (she got a haircut only four days ago). The layered beige skirt with small sequins work and what seemed like a beige-gold tissue blouse looked ethereal on Kalki. It's hard to say she didn't make the perfect showstopper.

 

 

The only accessories we saw on Kalki was a stack of thick gold bangles. That with the minimal makeup is something we found rather refreshing. And of course, the natural waves in her hair definitely complimented the look and the earthy, feminine theme the designers were trying to stick to.

Kalki Koechlin is constantly finding ways to reinvent herself. The fact that she can play characters as diverse as Aditi in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Laila in Margarita With A Straw really just shows her versatility as an actor. Film isn't the only domain she's ruled with her malleable talent though. The fashion arena is also one that has often seen Kalki experiment. Day 3 at Lakme Fashion week proved the veracity of that statement with Kalki Koechlin for Amoh by Jade.
