Footwear makes for an important part of your festive wear just as much as your outfit. In fact, if we may say so, footwear is what really completes your outfit. Can you imagine wearing slippers at a wedding? Juttis have taken a long time to redeem themselves for being the perfect apprentice to your ethnic outfits, but better late than never as they say. Traditional juttis have been around for a very long time but the recent makeover we have seen with the basic jutti is a phenomenal one. Women are ditching their heels (and rightfully so) for trendier, more stylish juttis that will go well with just about anything. Festive season is at its peak and pairing your suits and anarkalis with the same old heels is just so 2000-and late, ladies. Everyone's moved onto comfort and sustainability and we're more than happy that juttis are finally getting their time to shine.

Juttis seem to be coming of age, almost like a scene from Mean Girls, where all Lindsey Lohan needed was a makeover to be recognised. Juttis are finally getting the recognition it deserves thanks to designers like Laksheeta Govil, founder of Fizzy Goblet, who has managed to reinvent the way we look at juttis altogether. Her recent collection is a collaboration with designer Rahul Mishra and have managed to bring together intricate floral patterns straight from a gorgeous gardenia on to your feet.

1. The humble jutti is now part of a larger whole in fashion. What was the inspiration behind couture-ising the humble jutti?

Laksheeta Govil: Fizzy Goblet has always stood for the revival of the humble and functional jutti. We wanted to bring it back and make it a part of modern Indian fashion. Once the casual jutti trend took off, it was only time before we took it up a notch and couture-ised it. And who better than grand couturier Rahul Mishra to collaborate with on this? Fizzy Goblet shares his love for intricacy and craftsmanship which makes him the perfect collaborator to take the next step in creating jutti history. Our first collection was one of feminine elegance paired with a fresh summer vibe. Our second capsule collection together is all set to be the perfect transition between casual to festive.

2. We're seeing a lot of intricately embroidered juttis today. How does your jutti stand out in the crowd?

Laksheeta Govil: We handcraft our juttis to make sure they are as comfortable as they are beautiful. Double cushioning and padding make our juttis the comfiest ones out there. We have always tried to make juttis a part of people's contemporary wardrobes. The revival of this traditional handicraft has been our priority. We are constantly innovating with form, texture and embellishment. All of our collaborations have brought something unique to the jutti. And this time around, with Rahul Mishra's flair for elegance, it's difficult to not stand out.

3. With the festive season coming up, how should we pair our designer juttis with our ethnic and Indo-western outfits?

Laksheeta Govil: Ethnic wear and juttis are an age old affair. You can easily throw on our Gulmohar or Guldasta juttis to match your lehengas and shararas. If you want to go the indo-western way, our Phulwari and Lotus Pond versions should be perfect for you.

4. Now that we have already diversified the scope of the jutti from being merely comfortable footwear to couture; what next?

Laksheeta Govil: Fresh ideas are one thing you'll always find in abundance at Fizzy Goblet. There is so much out there that inspires us and we really feel that the sky is the limit when it comes to innovation. We definitely have some very exciting plans, so, for now, you'll just have to keep a lookout on our social media.

5. We're seeing a lot of brides ditching the usual heels and opting to wear juttis for their big celebrations. Are we going to see that as the new normal for this wedding season?

Laksheeta Govil: Fashion, in general, has seen a shift of focus onto comfortable clothing as part of the new normal. With shoes literally being the part of the outfit that supports the bride, juttis are now an obvious choice. They're super comfortable and we, at Fizzy Goblet, make sure that brides don't have to compromise on the chic factor. Our Bridal Boxes with specially crafted juttis are available online to make the bride's day easier, one step at a time.

6. Since most of these juttis pack on the glam factor, how can these be worn with casual outfits?

Laksheeta Govil: Our embroidered juttis can easily be statement pieces that glam up any casual outfit. Just step into a pair with a simple white shirt and blue jeans and you've got yourself the perfect outfit to dress it up or down, whichever way you want!

We'd ditch anything (even our significant others) for these juttis, what are heels even, then?
