Decoding Makeup Trends for The Year 2022
Throwback To The '90s Lips
When we say it's 2022, we might feel that we are moving towards the futuristic approach of everything but when it is about lip looks, we might consider redoing the good ol' classic 90's this time. "Lip liners have been huge," states celebrity makeup artist, Meghna Bhutani. A flawless defined lip look is going to be ruling this year. She further adds, "Lip pencil is making a big comeback this season , a lip liner that is a few shades darker than the lipstick is perfect rather than blended in completely, like how it was done in the 90's."
Clear Highlighters
The revival of "all that shine" is going to be strong this year. Rise and shine beauty fanatics as this year we try clear sheen in the most subtle way possible. "A clear shine along the cheekbones is the ultimate way a face glows up with a healthy shine. The presence of a typical powder highlighter is evidently makeup," exclaims bridal makeup artist and hairstylist Mausam Gandhi. She further adds, "The year 2022 is going to be all about skin finish. Hence a clear glossy highlighter will make the rounds."
Let's Talk- With Statement Eyes
This year is all about a beautiful amalgamation of minimalism and maximalism, leading to that euphoria effect. High impact eye makeup looks are going to be a rage this year! Whether it is a pop of colour, graphic liners or shimmer, let your eyes do all the talking. " Shimmer is the next big thing. According to me, a little shimmer along your eyelids not only elevates your look, but also looks super festive. Opt for sheer shimmer, it gives a very sophisticated, not trying too hard look. The Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk palette is my favorite for this look," states Mausam Gandhi.
Seconding the notion, Meghna Bhutani adds, "Graphic and bold eyeliners are a trend. Especially, eyeliners in neon bold and graphic eyeliners. You can create shapes by lining with 2/3 different colour eyeliners."
Flushed Cheeks
Swoon-worthy trends like flushed cheeks have been all over the social media towards the end of the past year and are sure to make it big this year as well. In shades of violet, lavender, rose and more, this trend tends to give a younger looking look and a more natural finish. "Going all out with blush is definitely going to be a big trend in 2022. Use a liquid or cream blush. It gives a young soft look," says Mausam Gandhi.
Further elaborating on the trend, Meghna Bhutani states, "Creating a statement blush look is not only about application on the cheeks but extending on the temples and some on the eye as well."
