Malaika Arora got her daily dose of vitamin D while sunbathing during the morning hours. The Munni Badnaam star made sure that she filled in her vitamin D quota during the winter months. But this is not the first time she has been spotted soaking up the winter sun this season. Recently, she did the same while practicing yoga asanas perched on her balcony.

Vitamin D deficiency is very common during the frigid months as the body's usual production of vitamin D drops because of facing shorter sunlit days and facing colder temperatures becasuse of the mercury going down.

This lack of vitamin D is enhanced because:

  1. The human body produces vitamin D when it is exposed to sunlight, but this takes a back seat in winter.
  2. People tend to spend more time feeling warm and cosy indoors during the winter, which limits their chance to absorb vitamin D.

If you want to get your daily fix of vitamin D like Malaika; here are sources that you can tap as per National Health Service, United Kingdom.

1. Sunlight First For Vitamin D:

Nothing better than a good sun-lit soak by spending time outdoors during the brightest points of the day. Make sure to not skip it even on windy or cloudy days.

2. Get Your Fill Your Vitamin D Rich Food:

Make sure to include food items that are rich in vitamin D in your diet which includes fat-rich fish such as salmon, tuna or mackerel as well as egg yolks, cheese, milk, cereal, orange juice and more.

3. Include Supplements In Your Diet:

Take supplement doses of vitamin D3 and cod liver oil to amp up your vitamin D levels.

4. Make Use Of UV Lamps And Light Boxes:

You can take extra help by using ultraviolet lamps and light boxes to stimulate sunlight exposure. But make sure consult a doctor or a healthcare professional before doing so.
