It was the 2023 Met Gala for everyone across the world but for Dua Lipa, it was even more special. As a co-chair for the prestigious event, the artist decided to not just pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld in theme, but to deep dive into his archives and dust off one of this finest designs. To walk the red carpet of the 2023 Met Gala, Dua wore an exceptionally elegant Chanel gown made in its signature tweed fabric.

The ivory ensemble had contrasting piping over the neckline and waist. The very Victorian silhouette was narrow at the waist and then led to a full, voluminous skirt with pockets that she tucked her hands in. It was worn with a stunning diamond necklace and metallic pumps. Dua's jet black hair was worn in waves with bushy brows and a neutral makeup look.

What made Dua's ensemble stand out was the fact that it belonged to Chanel's fall 1992 couture collection, then helmed by none other than Karl Lagerfeld himself. For that particular Fall/Winter 1992 fashion show, supermodel Claudia Schiffer walked the ramp wearing that very dress with a hat and jacket to showcase the sophisticated look of a Chanel bride so many moons ago.

In fact, it wasn't just Dua who was inspired by Claudia's take on the Chanel bride. While Alia Bhatt wore a different designer altogether, she stated in her caption, "My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer's 1992 Chanel bridal look." Alia picked a Prabal Gurung gown embellished heavily with pearls.
