When Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, is not aggressively acquiring more turf for his internet empire, he is investing his energy in building family traditions and fitness routines. He recently shared a post of his high-energy, action-packed Memorial Day family tradition of completing the 'Murph Challenge' named after Lt Murphy. He dedicated his tradition to soldiers who defended the US.

The American business magnate went into great detail about the workout routine in his post. Zuckerberg's daughters also featured in his post having completed a version of the feat in a commendably short duration. 'I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who defended us. One of Lt Murphy's favorite workouts was running a mile, doing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and then running another mile -- all while wearing a 20lb weighted pack. This year I got it done in 39:58. The girls did a quarter-Murph (unweighted) in 15 mins!'

So, what is the 'Murph Challenge'?

The Murph challenge begins with running one mile, followed by an intense series of 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 sand quats, and it concludes with another mile run, but with an addition of a 20lb (roughly 9 kg) weighted pack. The workout is credited to Lt.Murphy who was a Navy SEAL officer and recipient of the Medal of Honour, who lost his life in Afghanistan. He was the first member of the United States Navy to receive this Medal, the US military's highest decoration, since the Vietnam War. The Murph challenge was set up as a tribute to his contribution and sacrifice and a fundraiser for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation

Those who follow Zuckerberg know well that he is a fitness enthusiast. Not long ago, he shared a post of himself competing in his first jiu-jitsu tournament at which he "won some medals."
