Kareena Kapoor sent the fashion critics into a frenzy as she marked her debut at the 2024 Vogue Ball of Arabia, in Dubai. Abiding with the theme of this year's ball, “Mermaids of the Gulf”, Kareena strutted the red carpet in an aquamarine gown. For her appearance at the annual celebration, the Bollywood star rested her faith in the craftsmanship of India's most revered designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The designer spread his charm by giving Kareena a completely regal look. The handmade tweed number was created with silk floss and wool. The magnificent piece was embroidered with beads and sequins. In a conversation with Vogue, Sabyasachi Mukherjee shared a closer look at his initial sketch for Kareena's look. When the designer started the initial work, he was sure about the look having a clean silhouette. The designer revealed that the aesthetics that he had in his mind while creating a red carpet ensemble for Kareena was “minimal, modern and controlled.”
Sabyasachi Mukherjee said, “While interpreting the fantastical theme, I was very clear that I wanted Kareena's look to be minimal, modern and controlled.” Continuing further, the designer explained that the outfit was strictly minimal, but the maximalism only came out in the tonality and fabrication of the dress. He added, “The maximalism came out in the fabrication and colour of our hand-crafted tweed, and the opulent jewellery.”
The custom number hugged Kareena Kapoor in all the right places. The designer embellished the ensemble with intricate beading and sequin work to create a shimmering, water-like effect. Kareena further amplified the vibrant colour of the outfit by styling it with a clutch in the very same fabric. The elaborate piece was topped off with Sabyasachi Mukherjee's signature Bengal tiger motif.
From head to toe, Kareena Kapoor was a Sabyasachi girl. After a gorgeous dress and a stunning clutch, all that was left to complete the look was a perfect jewellery piece. And Kareena found an iconic one—a Palm Avenue necklace from Sabyasachi High Jewellery. Crafted in 18k gold, the necklace carried 126 carats of blue topaz, and white sapphires and was also studded with brilliant cut diamonds. The necklace holds the crown for being iconic not just for its exquisite use of gemstones but also for all its interesting motifs. The majestic piece also included a black and gold palm tree, along with a roaring tiger head in the design.
