We might be well known about the larger aspect of hair care and hair hacks when it comes to building and maintaining a routine but sometimes, we need to focus on the less known facts in order to align it all right! Before hopping onto products for monsoon to add to your beauty repertoire, it is essential to understand how exactly your hair transitions during the season and what measures can be taken in order to ensure healthy hair during the season. Sweat and humidity just adds on to the existing frizz and of course we do not want to end up with messed hair. Consistency is the key to any regimen and to get you started on with the best tips, we got in touch with celebrity hairstylist Rod Ankers who tells us about all the how-abouts of the same.

What Exactly Happens To Our Hair In Humid Season

"Rising temperature, scorching heat from the sun and the additional heat from the mechanical tools used for styling may damage the hair causing hair fall and dryness," states celebrity hairstylist Rod Ankers.

The transition of our hair from one season to another could be also the cause of damaged hair. Ankers, who also recently was on board with Streax Professional for their Kaleidoscope collection elaborates on the need of proper TLC for the hair.

"It is important to provide proper care and nutrition to the hair during the tough summer and humid months. Some easy preventive measures include trimming hair every 6 weeks to avoid split ends, shampooing and conditioning the hair twice a week and applying a suitable serum to protect hair from direct sun exposure. It's advisable to wear a hat or cover hair with a scarf before stepping out in the sun," he further adds.

Things Which Are A Big No

There is a lot of conscious care that goes behind maintaining that perfect mane and no matter how much effort we put in, we need to be careful of a few things, especially during monsoon. "The major mistake people make during the the season is not trimming their hair enough. Trimming your tresses is super essential."

As there is a shift in seasons, our hair care routine and lifestyle need a shift as well. He further adds, "Even if you are growing your hair, it needs regular trims to keep it in shape. Timely trimming hair enhances hair growth and quality. It's also important to maintain hair health throughout this season."

Busting Hair Care Myths

With so many do's and don'ts making rounds every season, we need stronger ways to keep our hair protected and healthy. When it comes to hair care myths, oiling happens to be a debatable topic. "It's a myth that hair oil provides moisture or makes your hair stronger. Oil can construct a layer on the hair which is not water-soluble," tells us Rod Ankers.

He further adds, "Over time, it acts as a barrier on the hair due to which hair strand temperature rises and starts extracting moisture from it. Hair looks shiny because it has multiple layers of oil but feels incredibly rough. The only way to ensure moisture levels in hair is by regular conditioning, trimming and limiting heat exposure from mechanical tools and the sun," he states.
