After much anticipation and enduring record highs of 38.5°C temperatures, Mumbaikars finally received the season's first showers on Sunday evening. Mumbai's Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 38.5°C, on Saturday, which is the highest for June in 15 years. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already predicted that the rains would be delayed this year and estimated that owing to the impact of Cyclone Biparjoy, Mumbai would finally be able to welcome the monsoons on Sunday. City dwellers couldn't wait. They took to Twitter to express themselves and didn't hold back with metaphors either. Late in the evening, dark rain clouds wafted slowly across the city sky and eventually relieved residents from the scorching heat summer of the summer. Twitter exploded with reactions.
