Tending to combination skin is as good as standing at a crossroads forever. The trouble is that it's neither here nor there. We're sure you ask yourself questions like, 'is my skin too dry today?' or 'how do I shrink these damn pores?' all the time. The questions can seem countless and the answers, few. "In combination skin, the face is divided into different regions. The T-zone gets oily while the C-zone becomes dry. Additionally, the area under the eyes and around the lips can get excessively dry," says skin expert Dr. Rashmi Shetty. With a balanced skin care routine of moisturisation and oil control, it is possible to pamper it. Here's how.
Step 1 - Begin by rinsing your face with a splash of cold water. Then make sure you choose the right cleanser that won't contribute to oiliness or dry the skin further. A foaming cleanser will do the trick as its frothy texture will gently cleanse the skin. Lather it up within your fingers, apply it over your face and neck and let it sit for 3 minutes. Then rinse it off with more cold water.
Step 2 - Once your skin is dry, move on to toning your face. It's an essential step for combination skin because it soothes the skin and prevents an oil spill from breaking out on your T-zone. Skip traditional toners for your skin type and instead, go for a thermal water mist. One or two spritzes over your faces and neck is enough to calm the oily area and hydrate the dry one.
Step 3 - Post spritzing on your toner, allow your skin to dry naturally. Layering skin products needs its own time for products to absorb effectively into the skin. Or else, you'll end up with a soppy mess.
Step 4 - The last and most important step of your skin care routine is moisturisation. Make sure you choose a lightweight moisturiser with a matte finish and apply it all over the face. In overly dry spots like your cheeks and jawlines, massage in an additional layer of a rich day cream. This will cocoon the skin and prevent dryness from cropping up.
