Olivia Colman has said yes to undergoing Botox over the years. In a world where going under the knife draws undesired criticism, The Crown actress has been unabashedly vocal about the cosmetic procedure. In a BBC Radio 2 interview with host Vernon Kay, Olivia revealed having enough fillers to look young. Her revelation popped up when Olivia and Venom learned that they were the same age (50). Sans any inhibition, she candidly stated that while Venom looked much younger, she could play the role of his mother. This spurred a question from the host who asked her “How much Botox have you had?” Her quick reply was, “Oh, I've had loads” before adding that the experience was quite unpleasant as if there were multiple “needles in your face”. If a veteran actress of calibre like Olivia can admit to having Botox, then perhaps it opens a doorway for women to be more confident in their skin.
Hollywood celebrities have been spilling their anti-ageing cosmetic journey and how. Earlier, Sophia Vergara opened up about relying on injectables to delay the ageing process. In an interview with Glamour magazine, the Modern Family star hit back at trolls claiming that she had plastic surgery, when it was not the case. “I always want to say, 'No, it's called ageing'. That's why I look different,” she said. However, Sophia admitted that she does, “a lot of micro-needling, and little lasers for capillaries” since she suffers from rosacea. “I do Botox in my eyes and my neck regularly,” confessed the 51-year-old.
Fair Game actress Cindy Crawford, who is now 58 years old, spoke about “counting on” a cosmetic surgeon for 11 years to stay youthful. In a magazine interview way back in 2012, the veteran star disclosed , “I'm not going to lie to myself, past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox, and collagen.” However, she highlighted the importance of adopting a “simple, healthy” lifestyle, drinking enough water, and exercising regularly to delay ageing.
It is high time we stop looking down upon women for choosing Botox and other injectables.
