They did it. Super hunk Milind Soman and girlfriend Ankita Konwar married in traditional Maharashtrian style over the weekend, shutting down rumours of a break-up. And while their May-December romance continues to raise eyebrows, there's no denying that fiftysomething Milind and twentysomething Ankita look great together. The wedding was held in Alibaug with just family and a handful of friends present and for once, we're not looking at Milind Soman but at what his bride wore. There was certainly a lot to look at - Ankita, 27, is Assamese and her wedding wardrobe included nods to her heritage in the form of a traditional mekhla chador as well as pieces of jewellery in Assamese design.
Ankita Konwar wore her festive red mekhla chador - the two piece Assamese saree that is worn like a skirt with the pallu wrapped separately around - for her sangeet, with yellow flowers in her hair and a maang teeka.
Here's a better look:
For the wedding ceremony - held during the day as is customary for Maharashtrians - Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar were dressed similarly in cream and gold. Ankita's simple saree was made special by a frilled border that was repeated on her blouse.
This close-up of the couple provides a better glimpse of Ankita's bridal finery - her jewellery, including a 'mayur haar' or peacock necklace, is traditionally Assamese.
At a pre-wedding mehendi, Ankita wore a sunny yellow lehenga by which Milind seemed very excited.
Assamese model Dipannita Sharma, who was invited to the wedding, also wore a mekhla chador in black and green with a red blouse.
Dipannita wore a kalamkari crop top and a pink sharara to the mehendi.
Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar, both dedicated marathon runners, shared these post-wedding wishes for each other today:
Here's wishing Milind and Ankita a happy married life.
