Motherhood is a journey filled with the joys of caring for your child and watching them grow. Despite the post-partum blues, every time mothers watch their baby giggle and smile, it fills their hearts with an abundance of joy. However, sometimes medical conditions can pose a hindrance to pregnancy. Recently, Selena Gomez made headlines after revealing that she cannot carry her own children due to the health issues she suffers from. Besides talking about her life in an interview with Vanity Fair, the singer-slash-actress also opened up about her family plans. She said, “I haven't ever said this but I unfortunately can't carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby's in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.” Selena has been suffering from an autoimmune condition known as lupus for several years now.

The setback however, does not stop Selena Gomez from embracing parenthood. With the advancement of medical science, she is eyeing adoption or surrogacy. “It's not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way, it happens for everyone. [But] I'm in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I am one of those people. I am excited about what that journey will look like, but it will look a little different. At the end of the day, I don't care. It will be mine. It will be my baby,” she shared.
Selena Gomez, 32 is in a relationship with record producer Benny Blanco, 36. She confirmed her relationship status with him last year in December. Previously, in an interaction with Time, the Only Murders in the Building actress disclosed that if she failed to find a partner by 35, she would happily adopt kids. “I came up with my plan, which was, I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone,” she disclosed.
