Whether you are a fashion fanatic or a beauty aficionado, fashion season is always a good reason to keep your eyes peeled. Who knows what you may discover - celebrity spottings, statements that leave us speechless (we're looking at you, Gucci) or the birth of a brand new trend. At the ongoing Paris Fashion Week, the latter seemed to be the case and from the line-up of shows, it the Dior runway that has caught our eye.
Taking place at France's musee Rodin, the Dior show; under the helm of artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri, made several statements. The theme was inspired by France's uprising in 1968. From the magazine covered walls of the set to the captioned clothing, there was nothing subtle about Dior's latest fall - autumn 2018 show. So you'd think that a makeup look complementing a vocal show like this would pale in comparison. But no siree, not at Dior.
Led by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup, the Dior show look was just as, if not more, dramatic. You'd think by now we've seen our fair share of smokey eyes and nude lips at fashion week. And we have, which is exactly why this look really stood out from the crowd. The show saw a surprisingly slew of bright colours lining both the lash lines of the models with a bluntly finished end. Of course coloured liners aren't a genius new invention by any means but none are quite like these. These shades aren't your regular navy blues and forest greens. Spotted were candy floss pinks, cherry red, sunshine yellow and even deep rust; all in pen tipped eyeliners with matte finishes which are known as the Dior on stage liners.
It's safe to say that the colourful lined eyes definitely made their impact on the ramp, even alongside the dramatic garments. Especially with summer coming up quickly, we can see the matte finished pops of colour becoming a vibrant, simple addition to a seasonal look. On the runway, what really tied it all together was the presentation. Model's eyeliner shades and sunglass tints were matched with each other. So with yellow liner were yellow sunglasses, with burgundy were a similar shade - you catch the drift and boy, was it a wonderful sight that got us excited for the season ahead.
