In all our dreams to travel the country, in all the beach stories and the magic of the mountains, somehow a lot of people restrict themselves to a lot of other things, places, cities, towns, experiences, food that our diverse country has to offer. It is not until someone travel somewhere and posts about it that we get turned on by the idea of travelling to the same place ourselves - you know, see what it is all about. And then the next thing you know is that it becomes a hype and no longer does the charm of that place survive. But that's another story.

North-East India is one of the places that promises tranquillity, peace and a lot of natural beauty. And yet, somehow I don't see it as talked about as it should be; not as travelled to as it should be.

Luckily for us our very loved Priyanka Chopra does a fabulous job being the brand ambassador for Assam Tourism, and she is at it again. Promoting the state and bringing to light its various facets, Priyanka makes us want to book our tickets to the land of Bihu and tea gardens right away.

Remember this?

And if this video isn't enough to ignite that wanderlust soul (although we highly doubt that it won't), Priyanka was in Jorhat this weekend and her posts on her Instagram should do the trick.

From learning the traditional dance steps...

...to relishing an Assamese thali...

....to learning how to wear the traditional Assamese saaree, the 'mekhela sador'...

..to petting beautiful elephants...

...and exploring tea gardens...

..the actress seems to have had a lot of fun in Assam.

Assam is known for its fabrics, the silks, the tea, the spicy food, and for Kaziranga National Park. It is where the Brahmaputra river flows in all its glory and the greenery stays soothes your soul. It is almost criminal that more millennials don't put that part of the country on their wander-to-list.

But after all these posts and pictures, maybe we should book our tickets in advance and plan a trip to Assam soon. God knows we need to escape this heat.
