We love the winter season for so many reasons; winter fashion complete with boots and cozy sweaters, hot chocolate and a great excuse to laze around without feeling the need for an explanation. But with the winter season comes dreadful hair problems. Dandruff and dryness of the hair becomes common amongst most people which in turn leads to other hair problems too like split ends and frizz. Hair problems can be persistent unless they are treated in the early stages. It is important to identify the problem properly and then find a solution to tackle it. In a fast paced life like ours we tend to neglect our hair very often and hence, it is imperative to give it extra care and nourishment during the winter season.
Split Up With Your Split Ends
One of the main causes of split ends happens due to lack of proteins and nourishment reaching the tip of your hair from the roots. Due to excessive dryness of the hair shaft, the ends of the strand split into multiple strands which can cause breakage and ultimately hairfall. Split ends are a sign of unhealthy hair which can be irritating for many women. Excessive chemicals and heat on the hair can cause the hair shaft to dry up quickly and therefore it is important to use them to its minimum capacity. Split ends unfortunately cannot be treated; many shampoos claim to fix split ends almost like glue but that is not the case. Once the hair strands start splitting in the end, the best solution is to cut it off. Regular trims are the best solution to get rid of split ends. However, ensuring your hair is perfectly nourished from root to tip prevents split ends altogether.
Say 'Frizz Off' To Frizzy Hair
Frizzy hair can be a menace if you're out and about in your favourite outfit and all you want is a good hair day but are having anything but one. Frizzy hair is a sign of dry hair that lacks moisture and takes it from the air around (humidity, here's looking at you!) and makes it worse. Damaged hair is most susceptible to frizzy hair and the best way to keep frizz at bay is by deep conditioning or using packs on your hair which provides natural oils to tame the frizz. Tone down the temperate of water you're washing your hair with because while a hot shower be relaxing it can damage hair follicles. Use a shampoo with hydrating agents like glycerin that lock in moisture. Another basic change you can opt for is swapping your cotton pillow sheets with silk ones to avoid as much friction that can cause hair to frizz up.
DIY Hair Mask For Frizzy Hair
Add 2 tbsp. of Jojoba Oil, 2 tbsp. Coconut Oil, half a smashed avocado and 2 tbsp. honey in a bowl and apply it from the root to the tip and leave it on for 45 mins. Wash as regular with a deep conditioning shampoo follow up and watch your hair with a natural shine minus the frizz.
Dust Off The Dandruff
Dandruff has often ruined our good hair days just by blatantly being around. Dandruff signifies an unhealthy scalp. One of the reasons dandruff occurs during this weather is the irregularity of washing the hair which breeds microbes and makes the scalp flaky. Dandruff can easily make perfectly healthy hair look dirty resulting in people feeling conscious to wear darker clothes. A regular hair wash a chemical free shampoo with ingredients like ginger and tea tree oil can help prevent dandruff from increasing drastically.
