Alia Bhatt chose to start off the weekend on a happy and healthy note by making her way to the gym. The Jigra actress was seen performing low dips at the gym using resistance bands while her trainer Karan Sawhney cheered her on.
Alia Bhatt's weekend started with a gym session that helped her build strength and push harder. The mother-of-one chose to exercise during her time at the gym by "keeping her dips low and quality high".
If you are inspired by Alia Bhatt's Saturday gym session and want to give it a go for yourself, then here is all you need to know about dip exercises.
What is a dip exercise?
To do a dip exercise, one supports themselves traditionally on a dip bar with arms down and shoulders over the hands, then lowers their body until their arms are bent to a 90-degree angle at the elbows, and then lifts their body upwards, resuming their starting position.
Benefits of a dip exercise?
Dip exercises work many muscles in one's upper body such as the triceps, chest, shoulders, biceps, and upper back. In addition to this, they also engage one's rotator cuff muscles that help the shoulders move.
There are a few types of dip exercises that one can do at the gym including the triceps dips, weighted dips, bodyweight dips and more.
Triceps Dips:
Triceps dips are an exercise that is done on a dip station, parallel bards, or a sturdy chair. To perform it, simply keep your body as vertical as possible while lowering yourself downward, just like Alia Bhatt did.
Bodyweight Dips:
Bodyweight dips are a compound exercise where you can hold parallel bars, hoist yourself up and then lower your body by bending your elbows.
Weighted Dips:
Weighted dips are basically the process of adding weight to make them more difficult. For instance, just like Alia did using a weighted belt or a resistance band while using a dip station.
Alia Bhatt's weekend gym routine ended on a high as she kept her "dips low".
