Shahid And Mira Kapoor To Shilpa Shetty, A Red Carpet Report

Award season is one most of us look forward to. It's not just that a star-studded award show on TV is a cure for boredom on a mundane evening. No, that's not the best part - the best part is looking at all the red carpet appearances and poring over what celebrities decide to wear. When the award show in question is dedicated to style, even more so. The HT Style awards 2018 took place last night in Mumbai. Sure enough, the most fashionable stars, from Deepika Padukone to Sonam Kapoor, turned up and in top form.

Here's what some of our favourite celebrities wore to the award function last night.

1. Shahid and Mira Kapoor

Whether they're walking the red carpet or taking a stroll in the park, Shahid and Mira Kapoor rarely ever fail to make a striking impression. They set couple goals every time they step out together and that's exactly what they did last night as well. While Shahid looked dapper in a black and white checked suit, it was Mira we just couldn't take our eyes off of. She looked stunning in a racer back white gown from Monisha Jaising with star shaped cutouts down the side. Well, she did look every bit a star, even if she isn't actually one. It's no surprise that they won the 'Most Stylish Couple' award.

2. Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty has a body that most envy; and we know just how hard she works to stay fit. All that yoga definitely seems to be paying off, because more often than not, Shilpa seems to look good in everything she wears. Shilpa definitely was a red carpet leader with her look last night, and no, it wasn't just because she has a super fit body. Her metallic grey Reem Acra gown made sure she dazzled and caught everyone's attention at the event. Shilpa even won the award for 'Most Stylish Author'. A fitting win, we think.

3. Sonam Kapoor

When it comes to Sonam Kapoor, one always expects something fun and out of the box. It's not for nothing that the PadMan star has become a fashion icon. Sonam, usually styled by sister Rhea, rarely fails to deliver; and last night, the case was much the same. Sonam arrived for the style awards wearing a bright yellow dress from Hyun Mi Nielsen by Christine Hyun Mi Nielsen, a Danish designer based out of Paris. She wore shoes from Aquazzura by Edgardo Osorio and kept her accessories simple. Her understated makeup was, of course, done by Namrata Soni.

4. Kriti Sanon

Much like Sonam Kapoor, Kriti Sanon too turned up in a yellow dress. Kriti's fringe dress was definitely different from Sonam's, though. Her dress by Deme By Gabriella was entirely made of long tassels. This was definitely different from Kriti's often dull style. She paired her dress with earrings from Minerali Store and shoes from Truffle Collection.

5. Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is a busy bee these days, because of her new film "Padmaavat." But what's caught our attention in the last two days is how her outfits were repeats of ones she wore earlier - something you rarely see a star of her stature do, especially for a high-profile red carpet event. Only yesterday we wrote about how Deepika had repeated an Anamika Khanna outfit for the special screening of "Padmaavat." At the HT Style Awards, Deepika repeated a silk sari she wore to a friend's wedding some months ago. This particular repetition did have us wondering if this sari held a special place in Deepika's heart - and seems like it might because it was reportedly as gift to her from Rekha. Deepika looked stunning and we love her silk sari and the fact that she picked a traditional look instead of a gown.

6. Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra is known to have made more than just one fashion faux pas in the past. Her style has often come across as trying too hard for many and just outdated for others. Although Parineeti's choice of outfit wasn't the best last night either, she did manage to look pretty in a nude dress with silver embroidery by Lebanese fashion designer, Sadek Majed. The silhouette wasn't the most flattering on Parineeti, but having seen that she's done worse, we aren't complaining too much.

7. Hina Khan

Thanks to enormously popular reality show Bigg Boss, Hina Khan is a name known to most households. Hina didn't manage to make a great impression on most, especially on those who were with her in the house (to put it mildly); and on the red carpet, unfortunately, Hina Khan did the same. Although Hina won an award for 'Most Stylish TV Actor, Female' her choice of outfit really has us questioning the people who made this decision. Hina's white jumpsuit with what seems like gold tissue ruffles on top was a major miss, to say the very least.

8. Sridevi

Sridevi might be prepping for the Bollywood debut of her older daughter Janhvi Kapoor, but we have to say, she seems to be looking younger by the day. Sridevi seems to be all about the glitz and glamour these days, with each of her outfits getting more shiny than the next. For the HT Style Awards, Sridevi chose to wear a shimmery pink co-ord set. Although we have a farrago of feelings on her outfit, ranging from puzzled to impressed, it's hard to deny that Sridevi looked quite beautiful.

9. Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi is another star whose style doesn't always impress. For the awards last night, Sonakshi did just barely manage to pull off this nude jacket set and shiny black top from Nikhil Thampi. For a night celebrating fashion, we would expect better even from the Dabangg actress.

10. Rekha

Rekha, as always, stayed true to her sense of style and wore a silk sari with her sindoor and red lipstick intact. For the event, she chose a gold kanjeevaram with a matching bag and gold jewelry. We really do wonder how many such saris Rekha really has - oh, for a peek into her closet.

11. Zeenat Aman

Yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman was also present alongside her colleague Rekha at the style awards. Sticking to a classic Indian look, Zeenat Aman wore a long midnight blue embroidered kurta with a brocade skirt.

12. Vaani Kapoor

Vaani Kapoor made an impression in a sheer beaded black gown by Italian fashion brand, Redemption. She kept the accessories and makeup minimal, something that seems to have worked in her favour.

13. Diana Penty

Diana Penty appeared at the award ceremony last night wearing what seemed like a top made out of ostrich feathers and a shiny gold skirt designed by Manish Malhotra. Diana's outfit, unfortunately did the opposite of what it was perhaps meant to do; impress. The only saving grace for Diana was her soft dewy makeup and elegant bun, which had her looking sophisticated despite the outfit.

14. Shamita Shetty

While her sister Shilpa Shetty made quite an impression on the red carpet, one can't nearly say the same thing about Shamita Shetty. Shamita's peach and gold Manish Malhotra gown with it's plunging neckline and sheer net bottom strived to make an impression, but failed. Seems like the ladies wearing Manish Malhotra creations should have thought their outfit choices through a little more.
