You'd never imagine that someone as gorgeous as Sonam Bajwa could have ever been bullied. The truth is however, she was. The Punjabi actress, who has been making strides with her appearances in movies and music videos, sat down for an interview on The Siddharth Kannan Show and spoke on a range of topics; from her career progression to making her way in the industry. What Sonam also touched upon was bullying during her childhood years.

In the conversation, Sonam said, "When I was growing up as a kid, I was really bullied for my skin colour. Because, as a Punjabi, I was not gori chitti. Some relatives never even invited me to their house. Growing up, I hadn't even seen their houses. Back then, I couldn't understand why they were taking everyone to their house and they weren't taking me. They are talking nicely to every other kid but why aren't they talking nicely to me? I was small but I saw it."
Things changed, and people did too, as life got better for Sonam. She continued, "When I did well in my career, they wanted to call me to their houses all the time. Unfortunately, I've lost that connection and respect. It's sad but the only thing we can do is avoid becoming like that." It's terrible that Sonam, as a child, was bullied for something as sensitive as skin colour, which she had no control over. However, we're glad she used her pain to push through. It just goes to show that whatever happens to the past doesn't have to hold you back from going forward in the future.
