While the tickets are an important aspect of the discussion, another matter is the prize for the winners. The answer may not be so straightforward. The festival showcases a wide range of films, including both mainstream and independent productions, and awards prestigious prizes. Winners of certain prizes receive monetary compensation too. The Palme d'Or is the highest honour awarded to the festival's best film. According to the reports by some publications, a prize is also granted to first-time filmmakers to assist in distributing their pictures in France. The Gan Foundation Prize for Distribution provides £17,600 in exchange for a marketing strategy.
