The Gold Gown-Off: Shweta Bachchan Vs Gauri Khan Vs Iulia Vantur

The HELLO! Hall Of Fame Awards took place last night in Mumbai. As is true for most award shows that are attended by the most stylish in Bollywood, last night saw every guest there put their best fashion foot forward. While many of Bollywood's famous leading ladies (including Deepika Padukone wearing pristine and structural white) were present at the award show, there were three women in particular who stood out in their dazzling gold gowns - Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Gauri Khan and Iulia Vantur went metallic for the evening and each managed to look very different, despite picking similar ensembles.

Shweta, Gauri and Iulia are connected to Bollywood only indirectly - Shweta is the daughter of actors Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and, unlike brother Abhishek, has chosen not to follow in their illustrious footsteps; Gauri, a successful interior designer, is married to superstar Shah Rukh Khan; and Iulia is rumoured to be dating SRK's equally famous colleague, Salman Khan. But there is one thing these women have in common other than the uber-famous company they keep - their fondness for ultra-glam red carpet picks.

At last night's award function, these fashionable women chose to wear gold. And we have to say, they definitely did justice, and more, to their designer gowns.

Gauri Khan made her appearance on the red carpet alongside her husband, Shah Rukh Khan, and her mother. She looked resplendent in her gold Monisha Jaising gown, with a thigh high split and sequins embroidered all over. Gauri went for a soft makeup look with the focus mainly on the eyes. Her glittery smokey eye look added immensely to her glam quotient for the night. To finish her look, she carried a silver-gold clutch that matched perfectly with her sparkly shoes.

Few can deny that Shweta Bachchan didn't add even more glamour to the already modish evening in her gold Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla couture gown. Shweta's gown, much like Gauri's was replete with sequins. But Shweta kept her look absolutely minimal, with no accessories apart from a thin gold necklace that made sure the focus was on nothing but her gown. Few could have carried this gown with a plunging neckline the way Shweta so fabulously did.

And then there was Iulia Vantur, a model and TV personality from Romania who has been navigating the tricky Bollywood scene for some years now as the rumoured girlfriend of Salman.Iulia's gold Manish Malhotra gown was replete with tassels and beads and featured a sheer net peach skirt that ended in frills. Iulia too went for minimal accessories and soft makeup with a smokey eye look.

We're tempted to pick a favourite, but it's hard to when these ladies all pulled off high octane gold with such panache.
