All our lives, we have been taught, influenced and instructed to go above and beyond for our jobs. That is slowly seeing a shift across the globe today. While the notion of walking through the office hallways in a pair of formal slacks still exists, the world is now moving way beyond the physical constraints of jobs and their dominance over modern lives. The culture of 'hustling' seems to have taken a backseat as people are now moving toward a new trend called 'lazy girl jobs'.

What Is The "Lazy Girls Jobs" Trend All About?

There is a massive digital shift in work cultures for the good. According to Business Insider, the trend is currently going viral on TikTok with girls posting about the trend and the benefits of the same. Millennials were previously obsessed with the continuous hustle until burn out sunk in. Now on the other hand, the 'lazy girl job' trend focuses on having a life beyond work and maintaining a healthy balance of both worlds. The trend entails having a low-stress, undemanding job or work opportunity that pays enough for one's lifestyle.

The term "lazy" might seem offensive to some but the core of it is about how young and ambitious women are choosing to work the way they want to pay their bills while leading a low-stress life without the worry of work targets and pressures. In essence, their jobs pay for their lives but definitely don't dominate them.

How Did It Start?

This started when TikToker Gabrielle Judge shared career advice with her followers in a video on 22 May, 2023. She said, "I'm a big fan of 'lazy girl jobs,'" she said. "There's a lot of jobs out there where you could make $60,000 to $80,000, so pretty comfortable salaries, and not do that much work." Over these months, the #lazygirljob hashtag has crossed over 14 million views. Judge also spoke to the publication, saying, "I really want people to understand our time is so valuable and should be focused on efforts that are most aligned with their individual priorities, not a company," she said."

Modern living has made 9 to 5 work shifts (and longer) the centre of our lives but this trend is setting a new path for many aspiring women to explore ways to grow in all aspects. It's proof that jobs don't determine lives; it's the other way around. The trend is taking over social media and many can relate. People are responding in various ways saying that they wish to have these jobs as well. Many even are inspired and motivated to lead a life that can be balanced. Here are some comments from Instagram.

One user wrote, "This has helped me not hate my job. They are investing in me for me to move advance to the job that I really want", while another wrote, " I have been practising it for over a year now and my life has significantly improved."
