It's safe to say that Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal's wedding has been the biggest Bollywood wedding of 2021. The celebrity wedding may have been intimate up until this point but with every set of photos being released, we rooted for them even more. Held at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan, the couple goals have never been stronger. To no one's surprise, Katrina has also turned out to be bridal fashion inspiration for the season. While she wore Sabyasachi creations for all of her functions, it was the wedding look that truly stunned. Katrina picked a classic Sabyasachi red bridal lehenga in handwoven matka silk which featured fine tilla work and embroidered revival zardozi borders in velvet. But you know what else left us swooning about her wedding look? Her accessories. Katrina Kaif wore traditional handcrafted choodas and kaleeras by Raabta by Rahul for her wedding.
Katrina looked resplendent at her wedding and the handcrafted kaleeras were partly why. It was created by designer Rahul Luthra on request by Katrina Kaif's stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania. When Anaita called Rahul to design the kaleeras, there was one mandate only. She specifically mentioned that design had to be minimal yet chic and not heavy at all. Nothing OTT as the bride preferred a simple but traditional aesthetic. Anaita also specified that bride does not want to wear pearls. At that point of time, Rahul had no idea the bride-to-be was Katrina Kaif herself.

Rahul Luthra and his team at Raabta designed a beautiful pair of choodas with resplendent kaleeras for Katrina. The delicate blend of intricacies to fulfill the customs of the wedding were carefully designed and sketched by Rahul Luthra and put to life by his experienced karigars. On his inspiration behind the kaleeras, Rahul says, "As always I was inspired by nature, the peepal leaf motifs in gold were incorporated to impart the flavour of folklore. Delicate tassels were added in maroon to brighten the ornament and to bless the bride with a happy matrimony. Since pearls were not to be used, we stuck to the theme of gold and added golden beads to create the textured effect of beads hanging from multiple layers of interwoven chattars."
All the intricacies of the jewellery were handcrafted. Small delicate kaleeras were also adding to her layered look, making Raabta By Rahul's kaleeras part of the wedding ceremony for Katrina Kaif's wedding to Vicky Kaushal. Auspicious colours of gold and red were used in enamelling the ornament. The tiny trinkets in the end were added to liven up the custom of kaleera breaking. The kaleeras are handcrafted in silver alloy base with micro gold plating, peepal leaf motifs, golden beads, silken tassles and real zari threadwork.
On his experience being a part of the biggest Bollywood wedding of 2021, designer Rahul Luthra says, "Katrina looked resplendent to say the least when I finally saw the pictures. I am humbled by the whole experience and I must especially mention that Anaita Shroff was very patient and clear in her design sensibilities, she definitely extracted the best out of me and my team. I modestly accept that we executed what was expected from us and I hope we excelled at that." He signs off, saying, "This whole experience was amazing especially since we had done Deepika Padukone's kaleeras as well and we are hoping that we are able to design ornaments for Alia Bhatt too."
