There's no one who doesn't love a good cat eye. Whether you are heading to work or slipping into a lehenga, it has universal appeal for every occasion. Makeup newbies, you might find it a little daunting to get that smooth stroke but once you do, there's no looking back.

Even celebrities like Adele, Taylor Swift and Anushka Sharma have sported the feline finished eye makeup with elan. That's enough reason to sport it this Diwali. But not just any cat eye makeup, a smoked out one a la Sonam Kapoor. The gorgeous Bollywood diva, who is famous for her impeccable style, sports bouffant, contoured cheeks and smoked out cat-eye makeup in bronze tones by makeup artist Namrata Soni.

This Diwali, why not try out this celebrity take on a classic for yourself? We're certain it will look fantastic with dangling earrings and an anarkali so here's how to do it.

Step 1 - Apply eye primer all over your eye area. Since this look involves a fair amount of product, we want it all to stay intact and crease-free for the day.

Step 2 - Select a bronze eyeshadow with a dense brush and dab it all over your eyelid. Pack on the shadow under the crease until the end of the lid.

Step 3 - Take a piece of cello tape and stick it to the back of your hand to remove some of its glue. Then stick the piece in line with your lower lash to meet the end of your eyebrow.

Step 4 - Using the same brush and shadow, dab it over the outer end of your eye where you'd draw your winged liner. No matter if some get on the tape, you're going to remove it anyway. Use a damp q-tip to give it a triangular shape at the outer end, then remove the cello tape.

Step 5 - With black eyeliner, line your upper lash line in thick, smooth strokes from inner to outer corner. Then extend it into a wing at the outer end.

Step 6 - Use an eyelash curler to curl your eyelashes and use 2 coats of mascara to give them volume.

All done, you're ready to roll!
