Salman Khan's latest film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has taken 10 days to amass a box office collection that totaled to approximately Rs 100 crore. In the meantime however, the superstar has made headlines with his controversial comments on women's dressing. It all began when Palak Tiwari, who made her debut in the film, was interviewed on The Siddharth Kannan Show about her experience working with Salman. When working on the production set of his previous movie Antim, Palak spoke about the dress code enforced by Khan, where low necklines were strongly discouraged. She said, "He's a traditionalist. He says my girls should always be protected."

Since then, Mr. Khan has more recently been interviewed by Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, where the topic of the dress code being enforced for women and double standards arose. When questioned on the topic, Salman responded in Hindi, saying, "Women's bodies are more precious. The more covered her body, the better it is." Rajat also brought up the fact that at 17, Salman filmed one of his first commercials shirtless. To which Salman replied, "I was wearing swimming trunks for the shot" and "the times today are different compared to what they were then." Even today though, Salman still drops his shirt to showcase his shredded torso on social media.
Salman definitely seems to have the best intentions for the female population he works alongside with. After all, safety is pivotal for women, especially when working around the clock. However, his dress code and apparent double standards have left a large section of Internet users, mainly female, irate. While it's good to be precautious as far as one's dressing is concerned, that certainly doesn't prevent crime against the modesty of a woman. Coming from an actor who frequently posts pictures sans a shirt on Instagram, maybe the solution isn't asking women to cover up further but providing a safe working environment where she can dress to work in comfort.
