New Delhi:

Yes, we know distressed denim is in and can look pretty great if done right (even if we haven't entirely bought into the trend ourselves). But it's also embarrassingly easy to get it wrong. There's artfully ripped and then there's just plain tattered. You know it's time to junk your jeans when they end up just a collection of holes held together by bits of fabric, putting most of your thigh, knee and/or shin on display. It's plainly hard to let go though, or acknowledge that you need to. Because we just spotted Twinkle Khanna and Ameesha Patel out in Mumbai wearing jeans that have crossed over to the twilight zone.

The usually polished Twinkle looked unusually scruffy - neck down, because her hair and makeup were flawless - in a tiger print t-shirt and dangerous denim.

Ameesha Patel, who is generally laden with designer labels, also wore a t-shirt and holey jeans.

Both women were pictured at a salon in Juhu, Mumbai - the same salon. Which leads us to wonder if these extreme jeans are a beauty treatment hazard. You think?

While we ponder that existential question, here are two actresses who recently wore jeans distressed just so - Deepika Padukone was photographed at Mumbai airport in a black t-shirt and blue jeans with rips down each thigh; Priyanka Chopra, in town for a flying visit, went to dinner with Arpita Khan Sharma wearing a summery t-shirt and jeans with just a single rip across the knee.
