Twinkle Khanna, woman of many and varied talents, wins the Internet on a regular basis with her irreverent, hilarious posts on everything from current affairs to life with husband Akshay Kumar - but there's one thing she never jokes about: her hair. Twinkle takes hair very seriously indeed. Last year, she showed off a new short do (she went short after 20 years) on social media; in January, she dispensed a home remedy against hair fall to a follower who asked on Twitter (onion juice was Twinkle Khanna's recommendation). So it's no surprise at all that L'Oreal Professionnel India snapped the author-columnist up as a brand ambassador.
Colour is Twinkle's thing - she's been a redhead, sported a cinnamon-inspired brown and now what's become this season's hot hair trend, Parisian Chocolat. As part of L'Oreal's new campaign 'Only in Salons', wherein iconic hair colours meet the hairdresser's craftsmanship, Twinkle Khanna has been sharing tricks to getting hair colour right while also emphasising on the importance of opting for professional services to take care of one's hair. In one of her Instagram posts she had said, "I am a big fan of everything DIY but I would never colour my hair at home. Chemical experiments are best left inside a lab and not on my head."
We recently caught up with Twinkle Khanna to find out her favourite hair colour trends and what she does to ensure that her hair stays healthy and radiant:
You seem to love experimenting with different hair colours. What's your current favourite?
Twinkle Khanna: "I have always been 50 shades of red in a sense, but I am loving L'Oreal's new Parisian Chocolat in my hair."

What hair colour trends have your attention this season?
Twinkle Khanna: "The palette of French browns like the cinnamon-inspired flirty, rouge-inspired glam and hazel-like sensuality that are some of this season's hottest colours."
What are the hair rituals you follow to keep your hair healthy and shiny?
Twinkle Khanna: "I am a bit careless, I have to admit. Whenever we go to our home in Goa, I go swimming in the sea, ride my scooter in the blazing sun and I doubt if I even comb my hair properly during that time. But when my hair undergoes any chemical treatment or needs some nourishing, I opt for professional haircare treatments and oil-based hair masks."
Are there any home remedies that you follow to take care of your hair?
Twinkle Khanna: "I take vitamins for my hair ever so often; strange things like shark cartilage! I wash my hair in water boiled with neem leaves once a week, and do the same for my daughter."
Tips you'd like to share with those planning to colour their hair?
Twinkle Khanna: "When it comes to colouring one's hair, what you can achieve by yourself is nothing compared to going to a professionally trained and experienced hairdresser at a salon. They understand your hair, diagnose your hair problems and choose colours based on your skin tone. Hence, I am proud to headline the #onlyinsalon campaign by L'Oréal Professionnel."
As Twinkle once put it in one of her Instagram posts, "Why change your t-shirt when you can just change the hair?" - we see her point.
