Here's the thing about Valentine's Day - it is either for you or just not. For most people (even the cynics), Valentine's Day is a day that is hard to ignore. Blame every store and restaurant you visit for the ubiquitous pink and red decorations, the heart-shaped balloons and giant stuffed toys being sold on street corners, the inevitable protests against the day by fringe groups or just the people who can't stop posting mushy posts on social media. Love it, hate it, it's hard to be indifferent and even harder to ignore it. Especially when most of the celebrities you follow on social media are making sure they share 'Happy Valentine's Day' posts.
It makes total sense that celebrities, Bollywood stars in particular, find it hard to ignore this 'day of love' - love makes the world of showbiz go round, quite literally. Think of their reduced profits without the romantic plotlines that regularly set cash registers ringing.
So, here are some celebrities who've posted Valentine's Day-esque pictures. Not all of them were in your face, but hey, we can take a hint (or imagine one).
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor and her rumoured boyfriend Anand Ahuja are not a couple that shy away from some social media PDA. They feature in each other's stories all the time and one often gets to see their holiday pictures courtesy their Instagram posts. On Valentine's Day, Sonam posted a picture of the flowers sent to her by Anand on her Instagram story which read "Dear @anandahuja, I'm the luckiest girl in the world". She then proceeded to post a picture of the two of them on her feed. Anand left a comment that read, "I'll never have fear again because of you." It's hard to deny that these two make quite the perfect couple. Now if only they would admit to being one so we can dispense with the 'rumoured.'
Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan's post might not have read 'Happy Valentine's Day', but this beautiful, old picture he posted of himself and his wife Jaya Bachchan this morning captioned "Life's memories are made of gentle moments such as this .." is as romantic as it gets. Better than your average Valentine's post.
Shahid Kapoor And Mira Rajput
Shahid Kapoor seems to be off shooting somewhere on the hills, away from his wife Mira Rajput Kapoor. Only yesterday Mira posted a picture on her Instagram story of herself and Shahid captioned 'Major missing".
This morning Shahid might not have posted a picture with Mira, but he did post a Boomerang with a chocolate with a heart in the middle. The caption included the hashtag #poppingmyheartout. With all the love these two show each other on social media and otherwise, who can doubt that this was in fact for Mira.
Anushka Sharma
Anushka and Virat Kohli's fairytale wedding is still giving us goosebumps. Those gorgeous pictures and videos that surfaced from their wedding ceremony in Italy have set wedding goals for the decade, it seems. While this wife and husband couple quite openly admire and confess their love for one another on social media, on Valentine's Day Anushka seems to have taken a more subtle path. A few hours ago she shared a quote on Instagram and added "Happy 'this' day to all" in the caption.
Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri Dixit is not seen as often as we'd like to see her on the big screen, but one does see her make enough appearances at social gatherings or award functions with her husband, Dr Shriram Nene. The couple has been married for nearly two decades, but seems like the romance is far from dying down. The adorable Boomerang Madhuri Dixit posted today is proof.
Genelia Deshmukh
Genelia and Ritesh Deshmukh dated for nearly 10 years before they tied the knot in 2012. While their love story was one that inspired many, their posts and friendly banter on social media is loved even more. A few hours ago Genelia posted a duet of the two of them made with the app Musical.ly. Needless to say, it is adorable.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh might still not be openly saying that they're in a relationship, but their open hand-holding and returning from holidays together is really more than enough proof. These two lovebirds might not be posting pictures of each other and confessing their love explicitly on social media, but more often than not, you will find them commenting on each other's posts.
This morning, Deepika Padukone posted a picture of a rose which she mentioned in the caption was a result of her attempt at gardening. Now obviously, given that it's Valentine's Day, we couldn't help but wonder who she's planting these roses for. Perhaps her 'rumoured' beau Ranveer Singh? Her fans on social media seem to have assumed that too with many wishing her and Ranveer Singh a happy Valentine's Day.
Well, whether or not these celebrities explained who their posts were for, we think we might have decoded that for you. See what we meant about picking up on hints?
