Viral Fashion Trend: Balenciaga's SS'21 collection included stiletto Crocs

Fashion shows are back on the block with the SS'22 collection happening all around in full swing. But the internet can't stop talking about the high-heeled clogs . Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvasalia wowed the fashion crowd once again with his newest high-heeled Crocs - well, this time it's a pair of stilettos. Of course, there is a pair of Crocs for almost every occasion - from street fashion to even, red carpet moments. Now, the Crocs debate has just gotten even more divisive. Balenciaga's Spring 2022 collection titled "Clones" brought the rubber clogs to new heights.

You may ask what are these? Are they Crocs? Are they stilettos? Well, they are all of them. They're made of that signature squishy foam material and come in both black and bright green, the perfect range of colours for when you want a subtle or a dramatic entrance. Being debuted for SS'22, these shoes are not available for buying yet but they are most likely to be priced at as much as $1,000 - or approximately Rs 73,000 for a pair. But would anyone spend on such a pair?

As Balenciaga calls it "2.0", this is not Balenciaga and Crocs' first time collaboration. In fact, it's not even the first time the two have birthed a high-heeled version of those foam-based shoes. In 2017, Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvasalia introduced platform-heeled Crocs which were actually sold out before they were even officially released despite costing $850.

No, Balenciaga has made yet another pair of Crocs-inspired shoes - hot pink Crocs heels. Like the Balenciaga Croc platforms, the Crocs high heels are loaded with different charms, from the Eiffel Tower to a cat and a shooting star.

Crocs are super-popular right now and Balenciaga knows it. Despite the rubber shoe brand selling its own versions of platform clogs and wedges, there's never been a Crocs' design quite like these. Given the pandemic, we are all looking forward to more designs that scream comfort and high fashion together. And looks like Demna has the answer. But fashion is all about having fun, right?

Continuing the campy theme of the shoes but make them high fashion and more elegant silhouettes arriving via Balenciaga, it's not long before we see Crocs everywhere even on Fashion Week runways. But would you put on those stilettos crocs and ready to strut around?
