Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), located in Mumbai, will soon introduce a leopard safari, announced the Information Technology and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar

The forest is located in the Borivali area of Mumbai and is spread over 103-square-kilometres in the suburban district of the city

Current, SGNP already operates Lion and Tiger Safaris for wildlife lovers to observe the animals in the forest habitat

The forest department has now proposed to start Mumbai's Leopard Safari on around 30 hectares of land at SGNP

As tourists do not get to see leopards in their natural habitat at SGNP like the ongoing Lion and Tiger safaris offer,
this initiative would change that

Currently, there are around 17 leopards
in SGNP. In January 2025, 2
three-year-old cubs 'Bharat and Bharati' were brought there from Gujarat

Leopard cubs found in various parts of Maharashtra are brought and reared the location

Every year, around 20 lakh tourists visit SGNP. The Leopard Safaris promise a safe environment for the rescued leopards and cubs while also offering visitors a unique wildlife experience in Mumbai
