Why You Can't Get K-Beauty's Glass Skin Trend In One Week Flat

K-beauty's glass skin trend is gorgeous as ever but if you want it, you're really going to have to work for it.

Why You Can't Get K-Beauty's Glass Skin Trend In One Week Flat

Korean beauty is the gift that keeps on giving. From the famed 10 step skin care routine to wacky ingredients like snail slime being used in beauty, K-beauty has introduced us to a world of techniques and trends. The most recent one on the block is glass skin. And no, it doesn't involve glass being anywhere close to your skin.

Ever noticed the skin that Korean women and beauty enthusiasts have? It's clear, generally pore-less and has a sheen that will make you want to slip on sunglasses. That's exactly what the Korean glass skin trend is; a healthy, flawless complexion with an inner radiance, similar to a shiny shard of glass.

While in most beauty trends, all you need to get the look is pick up a makeup product or two, the Korean glass skin trend is a little bit different. It's not the kind of trend where an eyeliner and lipstick work their magic and you'll be done in 10 minutes. That's because glass skin isn't actually a trend - it's a Korean beauty standard.

You see, in the K-beauty world, having almost-glass like skin which is luminous and translucent is a sign of youthfulness. Especially in the Asian society where there is high consciousness of healthy, youthful skin, having a face that shines bright becomes almost a status symbol. No wonder hordes of women who follow K-beauty are religiously sticking to their regime in the hope of getting glass-like skin.

The tricky part is, you can't get it in a day. No siree, it takes weeks, perhaps months to get the look. The trick to getting healthy, glowing skin is that there's no trick at all. It takes a dedicated routine of plenty of water, a healthy diet and a regime with ample sheet masks, scrubs and serums.

So if you're hitching your wagon to the glass skin trend that's come straight from Korea, know that it is possible - just that it will take longer than you think.
