The Asian restaurants and fine dining experiences have been on a continuous rise in Mumbai with numerous outlets to choose from, in order to satiate one's Asian cuisine cravings. House of Mandarin has been one of many favourite restaurants of Mumbai with its Oriental and Chinese menus in the past. With the launch of its new authentic menu, it will definitely be on the bucket list for Japanese food lovers in the city as well. With its authentic Japanese taste and flavours, here is why you need to head to House of Mandarin right away to try out their exotic cuisine.

The Ambience

The fine-dine restaurant lies on Hill road, a busy street in Bandra. The ambience is welcoming with indoor as well outdoor seating, both of which are air-conditioned. The outdoor seating had dim lighting in the evening giving a more cosy vibe with colourful couches and low tables. The indoor seating was more plush and bright.

The new Japanese menu also introduced a series of DoJa-based cocktails. DoJa is a gin and the cocktails had the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and tangy. The motive of the drinks was to deliver two cultures in a sip, which they did quite well. We tried the Niwaki which was a combination of Cucumber, Mint and Lime along with DoJa gin. It gave a tangy kick with the perfect refreshing flavour. Mandarin Cooler included mint leaves with Doja gin and an added tangerine flavour of orange which was lighter and more soothing. The other cocktails on their new menu include Doja Picante, Yuzu Sour, and Coral Haze.

The Food

The Grilled Chicken Meat Balls Skewers with Yakitori Sauce were little balls of finely chopped tender chicken coated with tangy and spicy sauces and were the perfect appetizers for the evening.

We followed the appetizer with Sushi. The Salmon Tataki was a sesame-crusted salmon with ginger and spring onion sauce. The soft meat of salmon was perfected with the flavour of ginger and was a delectable dish for authentic Japanese food lovers.

We also got to try their Aburi Cheese Maki. The appetizer included torched brie cheese rolled with asparagus and sweet shiitake. The rools were slightly cold bringing out the freshness of its ingredients. The wasabi was the perfect addition to the exotic rolls.

For Mains, we had Wok Tossed Udon Noodles in Black Pepper Sauce with Prawns. The soft-boiled noodles were finely cooked in oil and were rich in spices and taste and came with chopped vegetables which included spring onion, carrots and garnishing. The king-sized prawns were delicately cooked and finely marinated and were the perfect addition to the delicious noodles.
