We absolutely don't need just one day to celebrate Women's Day. Despite your plans, there's never a right reason or season to watch something that has the potential to inspire you. More than often, we turn to cinema for that. Female-led movies have been in the limelight for their incredible storylines that leave us motivated or even humour us. While we mark International Women's Day on March 8th, we look back at some of the most amazing female-led, empowering movies that are worth every minute of your time to watch any day of the year.

1. Queen

This movie absolutely needs to be on your list. Starring Kangana Ranaut, Queen is all about a girl from a traditional family who sets out on a solo honeymoon after her marriage gets cancelled. Approximately 10 years to the release yet it is hailed as one of the best films of all time and we agree!

2. English Vinglish

Released in 2012, starring Sridevi, English Vinglish is one that none of us will mind watching again. The story revolves around the protagonist of the story who is looked down upon by her family for not being fluent in English. She apparently becomes a pro at it by taking English classes as she travelled alone to the United States.

This movie starring Emma Watson and Timothe Chalamet was released in 2019 and is an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel Little Women. The story plot is about four sisters and their different ambitions in life. It gives out a message of how these women teach us to not take no for an answer and instead fight for what we want.

4. Hidden Figures

Even after its release in 2016, Hidden Figures is still on our list and it is truly incomplete without this masterpiece. The plot is based on the real-life story of three Black women who worked at NASA and pursue their dreams and passions in the male-dominated industry.

Our list is absolutely incomplete without this one. Reese Witherspoon has many films in her bag which are about women who won't give up. Wild is a woman-led movie that is sure to make you feel empowered as the story revolves around the protagonist who plays Cheryl Strayed, the real-life novice who made a 1,100-mile trek up the Pacific Crest Trail solo.

6. Thappad

Starring Tapsee Paannu, this movie focuses on the effects of patriarchy in India. The storyline revolves around how a husband, man or anyone not raise their hand on a woman. "It is just a slap, but nahi maar sakta", is the entire peg of the movie.
