Top 7 Travel Tips For Green-Environment
1. Use Public Transport
Instead of hiring private cabs, taxis or self-drive cars, use the local public transport. Travelling by trains, and buses like locals will not only make your travel environment-friendly but you will also get a taste of the actual life of the locals in the place.
2. Say No To Plastic
Plastic in any form, packaging or water bottles is hazardous to the environment. You can carry your glass water bottle or sippers from home and refill them with drinking water daily, instead of buying new bottles of mineral water every day. For packaging, it is advisable to use paper bags or cloth bags instead of plastic.
3. Avoid Indirect Flights
If you can take a direct flight to your desired destination and there is absolutely no alternative transportation, then take direct flights. Non-stop flight may have a lesser environmental impact and also is comparatively hassle-free.
4. Never Buy Wildlife-Made Souvenirs
Never invest in any artefacts made from leather or any material that has endangered the wildlife of the destination. This needs to be followed on a very strict level as we need to safeguard the natural environment as much as possible. And using animal-made artefacts endanger many species of wildlife.

5. Protect The Marine Life
If you are going to visit a beach destination, it is very important to protect marine life. You should avoid going into the deep seas as it may disturb the fauna of the oceans. Refrain from adventure sports activities which involve going deeper into the sea.
6. Go Local
The best way to protect the environment of a country is to buy, eat and shop locally as the economy will get improved by doing so. You can even donate to organisations working towards protecting the environment, at the place of your visit.
7. Stay In Hostels Or Shared Accommodation
Wherever possible, avoid hotels which are usually not a very sustainable way of living. Instead, you can book hostels, and dormitories and opt for other means of co-sharing spaces. This will not only make your travel environment friendly but will also give you a better chance to meet and interact with co-travellers.
This World Earth Day, make a promise to yourself to contribute to the environment in whatever way you can.
