1. Non-Toxic Clean Burning Candles
We all love the beautiful essence and aroma of a scented candle, but little did we know that it can affect the environment. Well, it's time to make a smooth shift to non-toxic clean burning candles.
"As people are becoming more aware about the ill effects of burning the commercial candles, they are making the switch to the clean burning candles which are easily available now. The clean candles not only burn for longer, but their wicks are also made from natural materials like cotton, hemp or wood and you will not be risking exposure to potentially harmful chemicals," explains Farah Agarwal, founder and chief designer at Chestnut Storeys.
2. Repurposing
Domestic lumber, be it warped wood from fallen trees or the leftovers from the old floorboards, is given another life in a sustainable home. Repurposing is new trend that we need to hop on while revamping our home this year.
"Reclaimed wood in particular has grown as the new age designers' favourite with its compelling character and a significant past. Reclaimed Parquet flooring is an equally striking repurpose for the factory-born logs. Their original texture is often retained and aestheticized as an exotic statement true to its form. Natural polishes-waxes and oils sourced from nature, come out as an eco-conscious move in the sustainable line of actions," states Interior designer Punam Kalra and creative director of I'm The Centre For Applied Arts.
3. Natural Elements
Greenery has never harmed anyone and it's no surprise that natural elements can be a big hit when it comes to sustainable home decor trends.
"It's no surprise that more people started turning to gardening and indoor plants as a new hobby during the pandemic. And to combine that with some rocks or water bodies helped people have a deeper connection to the elements of nature. The economic viability and easy to achieve result made many people incorporate this in their homes. Easy to maintain and improved quality of air, definitely a win-win," states Farah Agarwal.

4. Equitable Architecture
Tis' the season to indulge in some positive energy. The trend is all about calming yourself and resonating with natural sources.
"The trend answers to the call for health and sensibility in the creations. Layered in a non-toxic skin, the materials bloom with energy that resonates with wellbeing of all inmates and values the connection between human and space. The patterns break off from the factory-made symmetry and establishes our innate love for free forms original to nature. Colour palettes in the tranquilizing hues of nature, organic dyes and simulative textures are celebrated more than ever," explains Punam Kalra.
5. Bamboo Decor
When talking about sustainable home decor trends, how can we even miss the ruling trend of this year i.e. bamboo decor. Not only is it a sustainable choice but is durable as well. Plus it adds a whole rustic edge to your home. It is cost-effective and makes your home look cosy and calm. Be it bamboo flooring or some decor items, this year do not miss out on this raging decor trend.
