Today marks World Whisky Day, which is celebrated across the globe to draw attention to one of the most popular liquors of all time - whisky. If you consider yourself a whisky enthusiast, then this is the perfect weekend to take out one of your prized bottles and give a toast to this special occasion. Or better still, to beat the summer heat, shake up a range of refreshing whisky cocktails to enjoy at home. We bring you five delicious whisky cocktail recipes from some of the top whisky brands. Take a look:
1. Drop It Like It's Hot
Method:
Stir all ingredients over ice and serve with a big block of ice in a rock glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
Make a corn husk syrup by heating the husk in warm water with some honey and add a bit of cacao just for aroma.Cook for 15- 20 mins.
Or Make Honey Cinnamon Syrup by heating 1:1 ratio honey and water on low sim with added cinnamon sticks for 5 mins.
Serve with a big block of ice.
2. Lazy Old Fashioned
Method:
Add all ingredients to a mining glass. Add cold, dry ice and stir.
Once dilution is reached, strain into glass over fresh ice.
Twist orange peel over glass and drop it in as a garnish
3. The New York Sour
Method:
Take all the ingredients in a shaker. Shake and strain into a rock glass.
For a little more depth, float red wine on the drink at the end.
4. Jim Beam Orange Highball
Method:
Chill the glass, soda and Jim Beam.
Fill the glass with ice. Add Jim Beam and orange juice, and stir to get it chilled
Pour soda gently filling the glass till the top of the handle.
Stir once and put an orange wedge on it (if ice cubes are small, you can add orange juice).
5. Mint Julep
Method:
Lightly muddle mint leaves, lime juice and sugar syrup in a glass.
Add Grant's Distinction, pack it with crushed ice and stir.
Garnish with mint leaf.
