Waking up early seems to be one of those life skills that if you're not a morning person, just seems impossible to achieve. You're not alone if you find yourself setting an alarm for 7am everyday only to hit snooze in your sleep and find yourself waking up two hours later. By then, you're either going to run late for work or reach work looking like you just got out of bed - and not to miss, feeling hungry. We've all been there. But we're not going to lie, waking up early is said to have many advantages. It might be hard, but it most certainly is not impossible to wake up at the crack of dawn with a smile on your face a jump in your step. Here are a few things that could help you become a morning person.
1. Replace your alarm with a song you love
Listening to music can have a positive effect on our wellbeing. Listening to happy and upbeat music first thing in the morning can leave you feeling happy and charged all day long. So try replacing your current alarm with a song you like. Believe us, it'll make waking up early a lot more of a joyful activity and you'll end up hitting that snooze button less often.
2. Think about eating a delicious breakfast
Take some time out every night to prepare for a breakfast you can devour in the morning. Having a delicious meal waiting for you will make getting out of bed something you look forward to. Besides who wants to wake up late and skip out on breakfast time when you put in the effort to prep for it the night before.
3. Utilise that snooze time
Instead of shoving your face back under the covers and going right back to sleep once you hit snooze, use that time before your second alarm to start waking your mind up. Stretch your arms and legs, wiggle your toes, think about your plan of action for the day, even check your phone if that helps. Coerce your mind and body into alertness. By the time your alarm goes off again, you'll be too awake to go back to sleep.
