How To Shampoo Thick Hair - The Right Way!

Ahh thick, luscious hair-the coveted crown of many but the accessory of only a few. What thick haired girls may not tell you is that their problems begin when they hit the shower. You see, washing thick hair is no less than arm day at the gym - all you blessed ladies know what we're talking about. So we're here to make the thick hair washing process a little more productive - here's what you need to do.

Step 1 - Rinse your hair thoroughly from the scalp till the ends with lukewarm to cold water. Make sure it is soaked completely for the shampoo to have its full effect.

Step 2 - With thick hair, it's important to choose a nourishing shampoo that will cleanse it without drying out the lengths. Squirt a pea sized amount of shampoo in your palm, dilute it with water, lightly rub it into your scalp and leave it for 3 minutes.

Step 3 - "The double shampoo method works wonders for thick hair because it completely removes dirt and oil that has a tendency to get trapped within the dense strands," says hairstylist Zahabia Lacewalla. Once round 1 of shampooing is done, rinse it off with cold water and repeat with round 2.

Pro tip: Never forget to dilute your shampoo for easier application and a milder hair cleanse.

Step 4 - Once your second round of shampoo has sat for 3-5 minutes, rinse it off thoroughly and start conditioning. Apply a quarter palm's worth of conditioner over your hair lengths, away from your roots. Leave it there for a 5-7 minutes and then wash it off completely with cold water.

Step 5 - Use a fluffy towel or a cotton t-shirt to pat away the moisture from your hair to avoid frizz. Pat, don't rub or else you'll end up with Medusa's mane.

Step 6 - To finish off with gleaming, luscious locks, here's what Zahabia recommends, "A serum is a great finishing product for thick, straight hair as it won't weigh the hair down. In case you have thick, wavy or curly hair, replace it with leave-in cream for smooth, shiny results."
