Lucknow:
Ten persons have been arrested in connection with the death of a sub-inspector, who was killed by a mob during a violent protest in Ghazipur district, a senior officer said here today.
"A case under various charges including murder, attempt to murder, arson and rioting was registered against 22 people in connection with the violence that took place yesterday," ADGP Brij Lal told reporters here.
Out of the 22 people, 10 were arrested and situation is under control, Lal said.
"Efforts are being made to arrest 12 others named in the FIR," the ADG said.
Police sub-inspector T Ramarao was killed and several other policemen were injured when workers of a political party clashed with them in Jamaniya area of the district.
