A young woman who showed up the official residence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav used his weekly interaction with the public to appeal for help - she said her father and brother have been sexually abusing her for the last 10 years.
She has now been admitted to a government hospital.
Her father and brother have been arrested.
The woman told the police subsequently that her father, a retired railway employee, along with her brother, had been sexually abusing her since she was 14.
Police officers assigned to the case say that she joined a beautician's course and shared her ordeal with colleagues who suggested she meet the chief minister at his weekly "janta darshan" or interaction with the people.
