BSP leader's husband arrested in Lucknow

Lucknow: The Lucknow police has arrested two people who have been accused of selling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) tickets and getting transfers and postings done during the Mayawati government regime.

The two men who have been arrested are Dilip Rai Balwani and Ram Adhar Rai.

Mr Balwani's wife is with the BSP and is also a member of the Jaunpur Zila Panchayat.

Both Mr Balwani and Mr Rai have been accused by one Sayeed Ur Rab from Allahabad of duping him of Rs 53 lakh. Mr Rab was promised a BSP ticket from the Chail assembly constituency by the two men, but he never got the ticket to contest the elections.

Mr Balwani and Mr Rai have also been accused of taking money for getting officers transferred to plum postings. They allegedly got a District forest officer transferred during the BSP regime.
