Cold Weather Claims 7 Lives in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: As many as seven people were killed in a road accident caused due to poor visibility in Uttar Pradseh as dense fog has taken several parts of the state under its grip.

According to reports reaching here said that seven people were killed and three injured as the van in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Dhampur area of Bijnore district last night.

Several trains were running upto 12 hours behind schedule because of heavy sheet of fog even as flights were also adversely hit.

MeT office said that dense fog occurred at most places over east Uttar Pradesh and at a few places over west Uttar Pradesh too.

Night temperatures appreciably fell in Faizabad, Moradabad divisions and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

They were appreciably below normal in Moradabad, Meerut divisions, below normal in Varanasi, Lucknow divisions and were normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Lowest minimum temperature over the state was 2.1 degrees Celsius recorded at Muzaffarnagar.

They warned that dense to very dense fog would occur at many places over eastern region and at few places over western districts.

MeT office, in a forecast, said rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the state by weekend.
